The Long Version
For the thoughts that begin with a photograph.
I care a lot about why an image feels the way it does. This is where I write through that. The composition, light, color, movement, the choices I make before I press the shutter, and the ones I inevitably overthink afterward. Unfortunately, for everyone else, none of those thoughts stay in my head.
I talk a lot, I have never let anything go in my life, and apparently that applies to photographs too. So this is where I pick apart the people, places, and tiny visual details that stay with me long after the image is made.
Butch Femme Diaries 03- Study Date Gone Wrong
We went to the beach with books, notebooks, and every intention of getting something done. Somewhere between the ocean, the camera, and each other, studying became the least important part of the afternoon.

Field Note 02- In Defense of Grey Skies
Grey skies ask something different of a photograph. Without beautful rim and backlighting to rely on, I found myself paying closer attention to other ways to structor my images: leading lines, negative space, layers, scale, and the geometry of the Acadia coastline. A field not on photographing Acadia when the weather refuses to cooperate, and discovering that I never needed it to in the first place.

The first person I ever wanted to photograph was the woman I loved. In my effort to preserve her exactly how I saw her, I learned not only how t ouse a camera, but what it means to truly see & capture someone.
