The Long Version
For the thoughts that begin with a photograph.
I care a lot about why an image feels the way it does. This is where I write through that. The composition, light, color, movement, the choices I make before I press the shutter, and the ones I inevitably overthink afterward. I talk a lot, I have never let anything go in my life, and apparently that applies to photographs too. So this is where I pick apart the people, places, and tiny visual details that stay with me long after the image is made.

Field Note 02- In Defense of Grey Skies
Grey skies ask something different of a photograph. Without beautful rim and backlighting to rely on, I found myself paying closer attention to other ways to structor my images: leading lines, negative space, layers, scale, and the geometry of the Acadia coastline. A field not on photographing Acadia when the weather refuses to cooperate, and discovering that I never needed it to in the first place.

The first person I ever wanted to photograph was the woman I loved. In my effort to preserve her exactly how I saw her, I learned not only how t ouse a camera, but what it means to truly see & capture someone.
